Struggles of High School Students (2015)

High school is often a tough time kids try to balance high academic achievement with sports social lives and mental stability all while trying to define who you are. Many girls suffer of body dismorphia thinking they look one way when they don't and sometimes endangering their lives or driving them into relationships that can cause bodily harm. we don't stop to wonder what we can do to fix problems like these, we just assume insecurities and mood swings to be apart of  puberty and growing up. Sure hormonal changes does play a big part but so does society and their definition of beauty. Many amazing girls i know when you ask them do you like the way you look will answer with a no because society and our culture has taught them to look for flaws. This also moves into every aspect of school life. Many friends don't feel like they can have a bright future because of their race and because people even teacher tell them they aren't the type to be successful. It is time for adult to prioritize the mental health of students and to realize that sometimes hushing to hard will only make things worse. It stop for society to stop forcing us to accept their definition of perfect and for us to make our own.
